As technical director, he is charged with leading a team of scientists, who are working in the fields of genotyping, sample prep and automation. Beginning his educational journey in 1973, Dr. Shewale earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry, followed two short years later by a master's degree in biochemistry; both were completed in India. In 1980, he earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Pune. A Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences since 2007, Dr. Shewale hopes to grow both professionally and personally in the upcoming years.
