FPC Raises Thousands Of Dollars For Chain Saw Project To Help Towns Ravaged By Recent Twisters

HUNTSVILLE, AL, July 11, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- FPC of Huntsville (F-O-R-T-U-N-E Personnel Consultants) spearheaded an effort for clean-up in Alabama after the devastating tornadoes that had occurred in recent months. They partnered with United Way / Interfaith Mission Services to launch and grow the "Chain Saw Project", dedicated to providing chain saws to organized work crews in need of them.

Hugh Hanson, who has been with FPC for 13 years, led the effort, and fielded the charitable donations. To date, a number of FPC Offices have donated money towards this effort, and checks are still being received. Hugh said, "It was really moving how people banded together to help to restore the regions, after the extensive damage."

FPC was able to raise several thousand dollars, which was enough for United Way / Interfaith Mission Services to buy a dozen new chain saws that were sent to local Lowes stores, and other venues that have joined the efforts to help. The first of the FPC-funded saws were in service as of Sunday, June 19th, at Phil Campbell, AL, where recent visits to the popular town have turned into fundraisers following the devastation. (After one of the strongest tornadoes on record tore apart the town of Phil Campbell, killing 28 residents in a community of only 1,100, the Phil Campbell convention suddenly transitioned into a relief effort.)

Hopefully the "Chain Saw Project" will go a long way in helping tornado victims and the damaged towns. Due to the record-breaking year in the U.S. for tornadoes, there has been much damage to repair. The April 11th tornado alone caused $5.5 billion worth of damage. In total for the month of April, there were 875 twisters, which is the highest ever recorded for the month. And there were many more tornadoes that hit in May, and beyond. For the entire year to date, there have been about 1,000 twisters, according to NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration).

Due to these unanticipated twisters, in addition to high oil prices, and manufacturing delays stemming from disaster in Japan, job forecasts and hiring had dipped previously, but are now looking at a positive future once again, partially due, no doubt to the combined efforts of many to overcome recent obstacles.

Ron Herzog, CEO & President of FPC, said about recent events, "Several of our Franchise Offices operate within the regions most heavily hit by tornadoes, and we were extremely distressed by the amount of damage suffered by the residents. Our concern drove us to join efforts to help rebuild these communities. In addition to helping the local residents, we also realize that there is a shared goal amongst everyone across the United States - a desire to keep the country strong and resilient. This not only helps achieve our humanitarian goals, but also helps in strengthening our economy. If we are going to continue to get past these recent setbacks, we must all work together to achieve a positive outcome."
