With a specialization in kinetics and bio-diesel production, Ms. Velazquez-Sanchez is responsible for supervising operators, managing inventories and regulating compliance and became involved in her profession because of her education. She is the recipient of the Fellowship Award from the National Science Foundation in 2005, the National Leadership Award in 1999, the All-American Scholar Award and the United States National Mathematics Award in 1998. She attributes her success to her hard work and being goal-oriented.

Ms. Velazquez-Sanchez received her Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University in 2007 and graduated cum laude from Universidad de Puerto Rico at Mayaguez with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 2005. She is affiliated with the National Scholars Honor Society.
