Dr. Herbert Fritsche, Professor and Chief of Clinical Chemistry at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas will give the keynote address entitled "Cancer Biomarkers - Considerations For Discovery, Validation and Implementation" at this year's Biomarker Discovery Europe forum.

/Biotechnology News Articles/ - MONROVIA, CA, August 21, 2008 - Dr. Herbert Fritsche, Professor and Chief of Clinical Chemistry at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas will give the keynote address entitled "Cancer Biomarkers - Considerations For Discovery, Validation and Implementation" at this year's Biomarker Discovery Europe forum.
Dr. Fritsche's presentation will outline how blood and tissue markers play a key role in the diagnosis and clinical management of cancer. He will discuss how early detection helps improve cure rates and overall survival times of cancer patients. Dr. Fritsche will also cover considerations for implementation of new biomarkers including regulatory approval, peer review of clinical claims, recommendations from clinical practice guidelines committees, cost of testing, reimbursement and routine clinical laboratory operations.
Biomarker Discovery Europe 2008 taking place on October 2-3, 2008 in Dublin, Ireland will create a forum whereby industry leaders from the US, Europe, and Asia can collaborate and explore some of the differences between the US and European R & D environment. New technologies used to expedite the discovery to validation process as well as the usage of biomarkers in clinical trial design will be highlighted.
